How Emptiness Sings
by ChristaWells
I made myself wait these past several months, and now we’re ready to share the music we made last summer/fall before heading out to Costa Rica. And now…I’m both eager and a little shy about actually shipping. :)
How Emptiness Sings is a 7-track EP, all new originals, recorded & produced by Zodlounge (Nashville, TN), cover art/photos/design by Shelly Eve (who, by the way, you might know as Shelly Moore – singer/songwriter). I love it.
Making music is joy – made complete when others enter in, listen, and respond. Once that interaction begins, the work seems out of the artist’s hands, ownership transferred to the listener.
So…to that end, I invite you to interact with these new creatures of music & lyric. We are adding one preview track every couple of days through the release, until all 7 are up – click the image below to listen.
Official release is March 15 (hopefully you’ll be able to find it at iTunes, etc, right away) – and we are already taking orders for physical CDs here at the Store.
You have a million other places you could be right now! Thank for stopping here. And…please respond freely…your stories bring the music to life.

I’m blessed to know you. Excited for you, friend!
Looking forward to the release! Preview tracks sound great!
Samuel, thank you! We are excited about this…so happy you are, too.
Hi Christa.. my name is Kaitlyn and I’ve been a fan of yours for about a year. When I learned that you were one of Sara Groves’ favorite artists, I knew that I would love your music too! And I do… your songs are deep and beautiful and reach to the soul.
I’ve been listening to the new tracks on Facebook and they’re wonderful. I keep finding myself singing ‘Everything Moves’ throughout my day:)
I also read Ann Voskamp’s writing at A Holy Experience, so I thought it was cool to see that she influenced one of your songs.
Well, I just wanted to introduce myself and tell you that I’m excited about your new album … I ordered it today!

Dear Kaitlyn, thanks for this. Sara…Ann…you…me…something substantial in common, I’d say?
Obviously this is a song that I’ve formed a musical connection to (as evidenced by my blog, ha). It sounds AMAZING. I can’t wait.
Dear Abby, I know this one resonates with you…it’s a beautiful thing when God connects us in these mysterious ways.
heard your song on Ann Voskamps blog.
this verse really stuck out to me!
“I haven’t been asked yet to walk the hard roads
Still there’s a sense of deep loss in my soul
In the middle of a party, I’ll just want to go
Home.”
beautiful music!!
Thanks, Julie! We do all feel that way at times, I think…
Hey Christa,
My whole being cried for our Father to hold my sister as her son faced this illness. He did by the way and my nephew is doing very well
I’ve been reading your blog and bought the new album on iTunes. Last night I crawled into bed past midnight, but i was determined to listen to your album. I put in my earphones and listened to every song. Love it! It is beautifully done. Love the stringed instruments on Emptiness Sings. Worth missing precious time sleeping…. I have a 4 month old, so sleep is a precious commodity
I, too, found you through Ann Voskamp’s blog. A song inspired by Ann’s insightful thoughts. Wow. Then to find out that you wrote Held. Wow again.
When Held was released my nephew had just been diagnosed with leukemia. I was driving and heard it for the first time on the radio… nearly had to pull over …lol
Anyhoo… so now I feel like I have a new friend
Blessings to you and your family!
I’ve really been enjoying your music! Today I told a friend that she just had to hear you. We got to discussing the lyrics to some of your songs & I wonder if you could explain the chorus of Love Cost So Much…the part about the open graves. We looked for a scriptural reference, but weren’t sure if we got what you were saying there.
So I found this CD at the college radio station and got to listen to it. Definitely looking forward to playing this on my show tonight!
